In our society, one of the most important reasons why people in our culture get married is to love and be loved, but this idea of love is highly romantic and after the initial passionate, intense and exciting feeling comes disillusionment. Thus, when a partner realizes that the romance has waned, he/she thinks that love has flown and will be stuck to a monotonous and boring life together. For some people, what is most important in selecting a mate is companionship and intimacy. Erikson (p.18) says that the achievement of intimacy is one of the major goals during young adulthood and being able to maintain a close interpersonal relationship with a special someone. Thus, when this relationship fails and each partner is alienated from each other, they begin to question why did they choose that person to be with. Sometimes, selecting a mate is based on sexual satisfaction and fulfillment, and over time, sex may not be as good as it was before and the partner becomes frustrated and unhappy . Having children is a difficult subject for most couples, and if the couple does not agree on it, then unhappiness and regret may be in the offing. People also choose a mate because of the need for emotional security, those with feelings of inadequacy or insecurities want someone who they believe will give then the assurance of their self-worth. But as we know, this kind of relationship is doomed to failure, the emotionally weak partner may become overly dependent on the partner and the partner may also tire of the situation and become frustrated. Practical people often select mates who will increase their status, esteem, recognition and acceptance. Thus when the chosen mate fails to satisfy all of this, the partner may have regrets over his/her choice and think that there would have been more suitable mates for them. At this age, there are still those who choose a mate because of his/her financial security and money. As long as the partner has this social standing, the relationship is all right, but if the financial security or the money is gone, then the partner regrets his/her choice and would eventually leave the mate. Â  Another reason for regret of mate selection is incompatibility, it has been said that opposites attract, but just how long the attraction will last is debatable. Studies have shown that incompatibility is one of the major reasons for marital unhappiness. When a couple does not share the same values and principles, they will always be at odds with each other and thus may become extremely unhappy and discontent. Integrated marketing communication - Essay Example There is a much used clich sentence in marketing circles that goes - "If you build a better mousetrap, the world will beat a path to your door." (Crilley 2009). But according to management experts this no longer holds good today. Hence "the reality is that when you build the world's best mousetrap, customers don't naturally come knocking at the door." A product or service whether it is provided by a private or public service organization needs to market it and marketing needs marketing communication for it to succeed. According to Ms Linda Hall and Dr. Mark Wickham of the University of Tasmania, there is a lot of homogeneity in products, services and price, the concept of integrated marketing communication has become the 'new frontier' to enable organizations to differentiate themselves, their products and services from other. (Hall and Wickam). IMC is the transformation of business messages to the consumer group on an integrated basis "IMC is defined as a management concept that is designed to make all aspects of marketing communication such as advertising, sales promotion, public relations, and direct marketing work together as a unified force rather than permitting each to work in isolation." (Lake 2009).There are several primary reasons why organizations need to change their isolated marketing communication approach to an integrated one. They are changes in the society, changes in the economy, and changes in technology. (Varey 2001, p.254). Changes in society: The behaviour and pattern of buying among consumers have undergone a sea change when compared to a few decades back. The concept of a brand loyal market has changed to a repertoire market. An article titled 'Mistakes Marketers Make' that appeared in eh Wall Street Journal states that marketers focus on building brand loyal customers, while in reality, this concept is fast disappearing. This is truer in the case of consumer goods. "Most frequently purchased consumer goods are in repertoire markets, though many consumers don't realize it." (Corkindale 2008). The feature of a repertoire market is that customers will have a basket of goods of the same type of product which he or she will alternatively buy. "In a repertoire market, the customer will buy from a repertoire of brands (more than one brand)." (Marketing Wisdom for 2004: 99 Marketers and Agencies Share Real Life Tips). The Wall Street Journal Article mentioned earlier states that in such a case marketers need to reach a larger audience and hence resorting to an integrated marketing approach will be more practical. . Changes in the economy: The cost of media advertising is increasing as time goes by. Organizations can no longer rely on a single expensive media like the television to promote their products and services. They have to be more cost conscious and at the same time be effective. An IMC strategy uses all types of promotional media and hence a marketing mix can be developed integrating less costly media with the more expensive ones. Changes in technology: Fifty years ago, the choice of advertising media would have been limited to the print and radio and television is certain markets. A little later few televisions channels appeared which later boomed with the introduction of cable TV and direct to home services. The internet as an advertising medium also became very popular. The huge increase in choice has also necessitated in an integrated marketing strategy for effectiveness. Global business scenario: Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) is considered as essential part of the business operations in the global business environment .Both public and private sector organisation are required to run their business in the global competitive environment. Expansion and diversification of business operations on global basis requires integrated marketing communication. Integrated communication improves business productivity and performance on a greater extend.

I am going to discuss is 'Kindertransport' and my own piece 'The adoption' Danielle Grennan May2003 Performance Evaluation =============================================== The work I am going to discuss is 'Kindertransport' and my own piece 'The adoption'. I saw 'Kindertransport' in October 2002 at the Redbridge Drama Centre; my own piece was devised and performed in May 2003 also at the Redbridge Drama Centre. Both pieces have very similar themes about mother and daughter relationships and the difficulty of giving children away. Although both pieces are set in different periods of time. The theme of mother and daughter relationship is not very comprehensible so it is quite hard to act. My contribution to 'The adoption' was the part of the daughter, Clare Andrews, I had to be very aware of what a child of 11 would of felt like finding out she was adopted and had been lied to by the main person in her life. It was quite a difficult part to play and I personally feel I did not do it justice partly because of the time we had to prepare the piece and I did not learn the part as much as I would of liked to. I looked for articles on the Internet about mothers who have lost their daughters as part of my presentation. I also played a clip from 'Buffy the vampire slayer' showing this issue. I found many articles about this subject and they helped me to understand the emotions and anxieties of mothers who have lost their daughters. I think it did support our piece because by giving it more realistic feelings and emotions felt by mothers. Our piece was set in the modern day and 'Kindertransport' was set in the 1930s and modern day. Both pieces were about having to give your daughters away for various reasons. In 'Kindertransport', due to the historical background, the mother had to give her child away for its own safety because it was the time of the Holocaust. In our piece the mother had to give her daughter away because of her age and her parents. But in both pieces both mothers come back for their daughters and they chose to stay with their adoptive mothers. The characters in our piece were just general middle class people in modern times dealing with this hard but common issue. The characters in 'Kindertansport' were very different, the real mother and daughter are Jewish German citizens trying to escape the Jewish persecutions and the adoptive mother and the daughter's daughter are just modern day middle class people similar to the characters in our piece. This was shown by accents for the different nationalities.

Administrative Role of Management

Managers are often tasked to lead segments of the organization. In certain cases, the manager serves as the overall leader of the organization. Usually, managers are tasked to take on certain administrative functions.The administrative role of managers usually refers to functions that will contribute to the best way by which the organization may be organized from an overall perspective. Such functions may include monitoring the other functions in the institution as well as coordination with other members of the organization.These are done in order to ensure that all tasks are directed towards achieving the goals of the organization. Administrative functions of managers make them more hands on. They are required to participate more in order to ensure that all actions taken are for the success of the organization.  In the case of Far Horizon, there are three administrative issues that need to be addressed.Issue 1: HiringPhase 3 of Far Horizon’s plan involves the opening and fu ll-operation of the convention center. This requires the manager of the organization to recruit people suitable of the position. Various job openings will be created by the convention center.The manager must ensure that the right and best people are placed in positions where they are most suited for and where the can perform their duties successfully.Issue 2: Monitoring of Management TeamsAs stated in Far Horizon’s business plan, its management team is composed of only 3 members. Such team is composed of the owner, the bar and restaurant manager, as well as a consultant who has been hired to give advice on certain issues pertaining to the different aspects of the firm’s management.There is no clear outline of which manager is in charge of what area. It was stated in the business plan that operations, marketing, and finance management teams have already been established. However, it is quite evident that the 3 members of Far Horizon’s management team have not div ided the leadership of such areas among themselves.This may lead to a case wherein no one among the three members can properly monitor the actions of the said management teams. Without proper monitoring by the heads of the management, the actions of the management teams may not be inline with the goals of the company.Issue 3: Delegation of TasksWith the expansion of Far Horizon’s services, more tasks are required out of the current employees as well as those that are to be hired. Because of this, the managers must ensure that all tasks, duties, and responsibilities are covered and assigned.This requires proper delegation to personnel suited for the task. Moreover, it must be ensured that when an employee is assigned certain tasks, that employee is fully capable of fulfilling the said assignments. Too many assignments may cause the employee to give a sub-par performance while too little tasks will mean that the said employee is under-utilized.Basically, the management must ens ure that an adequate number of tasks are assigned to each employee in such a way that his services are maximized.Organizational Role of ManagementThe organization role of management basically refers to the function of managers wherein they design the organization in such a way that the whole organization is properly directed towards the achievement of the common goals of the organization.Managers need to be able to define the key areas of the organization and strategy by which these key areas will supplement each other in order to achieve the objectives of the whole organization. Various activities are related to the organizational role of managers. In the case of Far Horizon, there are a number of issues that the management needs to address in order to successfully lead the organization.Issue 1: StructureThe design of the organizational structure is one of the key activities of the management. Since Far Horizon provides various services to its customers and it has plans to expand i ts range of services, the management must consider a structure that will allow its personnel to attend to the key activities of the organization.Moreover, Far Horizon must be structured in such a way that it leaves room for expansion. This means that the structure must be flexible and dynamic because Far Horizon has yet to establish itself fully.Issue 2: Organizational DevelopmentOrganizational development refers to, â€Å"Organizational development is an effort, planned, organization-wide, and managed from the top, to increase organization effectiveness and health through planned interventions in the organization's processes, using behavioral-science knowledge.† (Beckhard, 1969)This is one of the key organizational functions of managers. The management must continuously seek out strategies by which the effectiveness of all areas of Far Horizon may be maintained and improved continuously. This must be done so that the company will remain competitive from a long-term perspecti ve.Issue 3: TechnologyTechnology is constantly changing. The managers of Far Horizon must ensure that they employ the latest technology not just in the services offered to their clients but within the organization has well. Moreover, they must determine where technology will be most useful within the organizations. The use of technology can make organizational process simpler.
